Department of NSS – National Service Scheme

A prophetic educationist and creator of Maharashtra Karmveer Bhausaheb Hiray saw a dream about Bahujan Hitay‚ Bahujan Sukhay. on this path our department of NSS keeping this view in mind we strive for academic Excellence by Exploring the Potentialities of economically weaker Sections of the Society by providing them opportunities to face Global challenges.

N.S.S. is the programme sponsored by the ministry of Human Resources Dept., Department of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, New Delhi. The motto of the N.S.S. is "Not me But You" objective or the N.S.S. is the development or the personality of student through community Service.

N.S.S. unit of L.V.H. College was started in 1974 with about 100 Students. Presently the N.S.S. unit consists of 250 students and 50 students from Junior college unit.

The overall aim of National Service Scheme as envisaged is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institution.

The reason for the formulation of this objective is the general realization that the college students have a tendency to get alienated from the village/ slum masses which constitute the majority of the population of the country.

The educated youth who are, expected to take the reins of administration in future are found to be unaware of the problems of the village/slum community and, in certain cases are indifferent towards their needs and problems.

Various training camps are organized throughout the year like Republic Camp (RDC), National Integration Camp (NIC), Army Attachment Camp, Trekking Camp, Mountaineering Camp and Combine Annual Training Camp etc.

Therefore it is necessary to arouse the social conscience of the students, and to provide them an opportunity to work with the people in the villages and slums. It is felt that their interaction with the common villagers and slum dwellers will expose them to the realities of life and bring about a change in their social perception.
